Becoming a Flexitarian

Well lately, I've decided to make new health and eating choices due to multiple reasons. I'm becoming a Flexitarian. Flexitarianism is where you occasionally eat poultry and fish or seafood. This is cutting out pork and beef for health, environmental, and animal reasons. I chose to become this because honestly i relied on beef and pork for food and I want to prove to not only others but myself that I can become different than relying on meat. Now why a Flexitarian? Why not a regular Vegiterian? Well see, meat gives you protein, and I don't always eat cheese and eggs that give you the right amount of protein. So if I occasionally eat poultry and fish, it will give me enough protein on some days that I don't eat cheese or eggs. Maybe as I get older, I may become a regular Vegiterian but I want to ease myself into just trying to be a Flexitarian.
Some facts about Flexitarianism:

  • Flexitarians are also known as Semi-Vegiterians
  • Flexitarians and Vegiterians are not the same (as in they arent both vegiterians because there is no such thing as a occasionally meat eating vegiterian.)
Flexitarian diets include:
  • Salads
  • Cheeses
  • Eggs
  • Fruits
  • Grain
  • Bread (also can be grains)
  • Dairy Products
  • Vegies
  • White meats (Poultry and Fish Occasionally)
My Outcomes and Thinkings on becoming a Flexitarian:
Well I honestly think I've been eating alot better. This includes, not drinking as much soda or eating as much junk food as I used to and instead going for fruit smoothies or salads. Becoming a Flexitarian, was pretty easy for me ( its only been almost 5 days) but as I keep refusing to eat red meats such as pork and beef, I have found myself becoming stronger in trying new things and health wise. Honestly, I think I'll be a Flexitarian for a LONG time.
How It Helps People and Environments:
  • Doesn't kill as many animals
  • If just 2 people become Flexitarians, it will help as much as one person becoming a vegiterian
  • It reduces Food Poisioning
  • It reduces litter ( Usually fast food salads have very little packaging)
